MERCES: Old Goa Police have registered a case of house theft after gold and silver ornaments worth around ₹10 lakh were stolen from a flat in Merces last week.
According to the complaint filed by Pooja Mangaonkar (56), a housewife residing at Kumar Residency, unknown persons allegedly broke open the window door of her flat between August 28 (4 pm) and August 29 (2.15 am) and decamped with valuables.
The stolen items include a 30-gram gold coin, mangalsutra, bangles, earrings, finger ring, nose pin, and a pair of silver payal and eddo, police said.
An offence was registered at Old Goa Police Station under Sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
During the course of investigation, police arrested an accused person on September 3 at 9 pm. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saiesh Bhonsle.
