DABOLIM: IN a major boost to Goa tourism after the COVID19 pandemic, Russian charter Rosiya has requested slots from December 30, at Dabolim airport.
Airport director Gagan said that Rosiya has asked for nine charter slots at Goa Airport.
“They will bring nine flights from December 30. This is the third request from charter operators. Earlier Scat Airlimes and Air Astana charter slots have been approved already,” he said.
Malik said Rosiya could operate twice a week on Thursday and Saturday.
“Maybe depending on the situation, they will increase slots,” he said.
He further said that the charter movement depends on Covid situation in other countries and the protocol of the Indian Government.
Malik said things are improving and charter operators have started approaching us, and AAI Goa is clearing the same as soon as possible after examining everything.
“International operations still depend on COVID19 situation. We have to see the protocol of GOI depending on the situation in that country,” he said.
As far as domestic tourism is concerned, he said that AAI Goa handled 182 flights (arrival & departure) and 27k pax on Sunday.
“Even during pre-covid, we could reach the figure only twice. We have continued our preparations, and the guard has not been let down,” he said.
“We are back to normal with all precautions,” he added.
