PANAJI: Calling Reginaldo a traitor and unstable, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said that there was no surprise in the MLAs exit as it was anticipated.
Chodankar said that it is good for the Party that such leaders leave before the election rather than afterwards.
Speaking to media persons Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, GPCC president Girish Chodankar stated that Reginaldo was never fully with the Congress party, and they (Congress) party members were always trying to keep him in sync with them.
“Reginaldo’s mind was always unstable, and he was often observed making statements against me, but neglecting these things, my genuine efforts were to stay united and move ahead with the Party. A few days ago, there were also speculations that he might join AAP, so it shows that he was a bit confused. It is also doubtful that he will be stable there whenever he goes,” he said.
Chodankar also commented that the tall trees tend to fall in the storm and the grassroots stays unabated.
“We have made the Party strong. Reginaldo didn’t even give a single call in this regard. In fact, since Sunday, we have tried contacting him but both his numbers were not reachable. He said that all such traitors will be judged by the people and will punish them,” he said.
Chodankar also opined that whatever has happened prior election is good.
“It’s good such traitors leave before elections rather than after getting elected. When ten MLAs from Congress jumped to BJP after the election, some of the supporters were unhappy, but we stayed together and again made our Party strong. We have now ann, ounced our candidates’ list, and with the support of people, the Congress party will win this election,” he said.
Commenting on the Trinamool Congress party, Chodankar said that TMC, which recently came to Goa, tried to attack the Congress party continuously.
“In fact, when the Congress party is exposing the scams of BJP, the TMC should have supported the Congress party. Congress party will not be affected by these attacks of TMC. I see that TMC is not doing anything to BJP so It is clear that their intentions are to destroy Congress in Goa,” he said.
When questioned about Party’s plans in Curtorim, Chodankar revealed that the Curtorim Congress block committee will meet and will analyze the situation, and block will discuss this matter.
“We had given Reginaldo all cooperation possible,” he said.
Furthermore, when questioned about why the Congress party was reduced to just two MLAs, Chodankar said that selfish people tend to leave the Party.
“Those who have bigger self-interest than the people’s and Party’s interest jump into other parties,” he said.
