Panaji: Goa’s Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced a strict ban on all development activities within a 150-metre radius of Bondvolli Lake in Santa Cruz.
The decision comes after detailed discussions with Fr. Richard Pinhero, Parish Priest of Santa Cruz, and in response to concerns raised by local residents about the ecological and environmental impact of new constructions.
“The properties in question, along with others around the lake, were converted under the Regional Plan 2021 when Goa was under a Congress government, and large-scale plotting approvals were also granted during that period.
After understanding the concerns raised by Fr. Pinhero and the sentiments of the residents, I have decided that no development permission will be granted within a 150-metre radius of Bondvolli Lake, even where settlement permissions exist,” said Minister Rane.
He added, “No higher or additional FSI will be allowed, despite the permissible limit being 80. Clear directions have been issued, and any higher FSI, if allotted, will be cancelled by the Board. I stand by the commitment made to the people of Santa Cruz—there will be no development that compromises Bondvolli Lake.”
