PANJIM: The Goa Government today constituted a 27 members committee under former CM Laxmikant Parsekar to draft State Education Policy in sync with National Education Policy.
The other members of the committee includes Secretary Education, Vice-Chancellor Goa University Prof Varun Sahni, former vice-chancellor GU Dr Satish Shetye, Director of IIT, NIT, Technical Education, GIM, former faculty-BARC- Mumbai Dr Prasad Naik, Former professor GU Dr Erwin D’Sa, Director R&D TEWA Dr Sarvesh Sawant, Ex-director Syngenta Bio Ltd Dr PR Pednekar, Head of Agro R&D Godrej Dr Jaywant Umarye, Professor GU Dr MK Janarthanam and Dr Pranab Mukhopadhaya, Principal GEC Dr Kripashankara, Professor GMC Dr Wiseman Pinto, former GMC dean Dr VN Jindal, former principal MES college MS Kamat, principal PES college Dr Vikas Pissurlekar and former principal of PES college Dr Anil Dinge, former chief scientist NIO Dr Murari Tapaswi, Principal Agriculture college Dr Suresh Kunkalekar, former principal CES college Dr Sanjay Desai and Director Physical Education Government college Quepem Dr Rajan Mathew
Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the National Education Policy 2020, making way for large scale, transformational reforms in both school and higher education sectors. This is the first education policy of the 21st century and replaces the thirty-four year old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986.
Built on the foundational pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability, this policy is aligned to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and aims to transform India into a vibrant knowledge society and global knowledge superpower by making both school and college education more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, suited to 21st century needs and aimed at bringing out the unique capabilities of each student.
