PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed that state government has notified 5 wildlife sanctuaries and 1 national park in western ghats as protected areas for protection and conservation of flora and fauna.

He further said that Goa has made strong objection against outside the basin diversion projects at Kalasa and Bhandura. Before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the Mhadei Water Distribution Tribunal (MWDT), the emphasis was on ecological sensitivity and biodiversity richness of the Western Ghats.

CM also said that Research work studies on flora and fauna of Western Ghats by various agencies including Government Institutions. Research Institutions, NGO’s, Universities and others is a continuous process and is carried out from time to time as per requirement.
