Mapusa: A government official was allegedly threatened and obstructed while carrying out official duties during a land demarcation survey in Ecoxim village of Bardez.
As per the complaint filed by Ms. Sneha Govenkar, Assistant District Education Inspector attached to the Directorate of Education, Mapusa, the incident occurred on February 20, 2026, at around 11:00 am near the Government Primary School at Survey No. 365/10, Ecoxim.
The complainant, along with a government surveyor, had visited the site to conduct a land demarcation exercise as per official orders. During the process, the accused, identified as Sarvesh Sharad Halarnkar, allegedly behaved in an aggressive and threatening manner and issued death threats to the complainant.
Police further stated that the accused forcibly snatched an official file from the surveyor, thereby obstructing the government work being carried out at the site.
Based on the complaint, an offence was registered on March 16 at 8:12 pm. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sitaram Malik to ascertain the full sequence of events and take necessary action.
