PONDA: Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh strongly opposed the government proposal to remove the badge for motorcycle pilots, taxi drivers, rickshaw drivers and bus transport businesses thus opening doors for outsiders into this business.
Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh Goa State Convenor Madhu Naik said today that Goans are thrown out of various businesses.
He strongly opposed the Government’s mulling to remove the badge condition for motorcycle pilots, Taxi, rickshaw and bus transportation business.
He said if this is done, the Bahujans will face the same situation as it was after the closure of Mining.
“As per MV Act, only Goans can conduct this business who have a badge. Only Goans are in the transport business,” he said.
He said if the badge condition is removed, it will give freedom to anyone, and the only business in the hands of Bahujans in Goa may lose forever control over it and may cease to exist in this business after doors are opened for all.
He strongly opposed removing the condition of badges in the transport business for the survival and existence of the Bahujan community in the transport business.
He said the app system would only help strengthen Corporates at the cost of Goans.
He said the name of streamlining the traffic system, the Government is doing injustice to most taxi drivers in the Bahujan community in Goa.
“The Government should present evidence of where the taxi app has been successful and how it will benefit Goans,” he stated, adding it is a misconception that because the app has been successful in Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore, it will be successful in Goa.
He said first to connect to 100% Goans with the internet and then think about the app.
