PANAJI: Minister for Archives and Archaeology Subhash Phal Dessai has informed that the Restoration/Conservation work of Corjuvem fort is in Progress and 20% work is completed till date.
“The Restoration/Conservation work of Corjuvem fort is in Progress and 20% work is completed till date. Work order is issued as per tender document and agreement is yet to be signed,” said Phal Dessai
He further informed that the time frame by which the renovation will be completed is May 2023 , no such extension has been granted to the executing agency.
“No, agency is not replaced. Akshar Shilp is Contractor of Restoration of Corjuvem Fort,” he added
The minister said that present work of Restoration of Corjuvem Fort is limited to the scope of Restoration of Fort, providing pathway and basic amenities such as toilets, drinking water facility and ticket counter.
“Department does not have any protected monument from 4 th and 5th Century C.E,” he said
Minister informed that government intends to carry out survey of all archaeological structures and sites. Further course of action will be decided based on the survey data
“12 forts are notified as Protected Monuments of Department of Archaeology,” he added
He said that all 12 Forts are regularly maintained by carrying out vegetation clearance, minor repair and restorations as and when required.
