PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today directed the Water Resource Department, Agriculture Department, PWD and concerned departments to undertake survey of the areas that have been flooded at Guirim.
CM also said that due compensation will be provided to all those whose fields have been affected due to the flooding
He was speaking to media persons after inspecting the area along with local MLAs, ZP members, Panchayat members etc.
“I have directed Water Resource Department, Agriculture Department, PWD and concerned departments to undertake survey of the areas that have been flooded at Guirim and also said that due compensation will be provided to all those whose fields have been affected due to the flooding,” said CM Sawant
He said, ““Inspection will be taken up along the Tar river area, short term solutions will be implemented to provide immediate relief. However, for long term relief Govt will undertake desilting of the river. Before next year, solution will be in place, asserted Sawant,”
Meanwhile, CM has asked Panchayats to keep a check on people indulging in land filling stating that it is the major cause of flooding. He added that he has asked police and other authorities to take action on such illegalities.
Due to water clogging, fields near Tar, Mapusa and Hotel Green Park at Guirim has been inundated with water.
