PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that his government will crack down on non-affiliated private institutes guaranteeing jobs after course completion.
“Government to crack down on non-affiliated private institutes guaranteeing jobs after course completion but failing to deliver; Dept instructed to verify affiliations,” said Sawant
He also has urged youth to verify affiliations before enrolling, as most of these high-cost courses often leave many jobless.
Sawant said that his government is communicating with the Centre to block the Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnel to stop these calls. Speaking to media persons, CM Sawant clarified that kidnappings have not taken place in the coastal state.
“I have verified with the Home Department, where I came to know that these scam phone calls are being received by parents from +92 code (Pakistan).
“Nobody should panic, don’t give money. No kidnappings are taking place in Goa. These phone calls come through Virtual Private Network and they call from different countries,” Sawant said.
“We have taken all security measures after receiving complaints in this regard to the Cyber Crime branch. They are investigating the case. We are communicating with the Central government to block such (scam) phone calls received through VPN,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that Goa government will invite new Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan and MoS Shripad Naik to address Swayampurna Mitras and agriculturists at the next webinar on Swayampurna Goa.
Sawant says this will motivate agriculturists & youth in the sector.
“We are now exporting a few veggies to other states through Horticulture Corporation. Goa is becoming ‘swayampurna’ in marigold production, reducing imports by 50% during Diwali and Dussehra,” he added
Meanwhile, Sawant also announced that the govt will start a veterinary college in the state. Admission for 40 seats for the animal husbandry and veterinary science course will start from October,
