PORVORIM: The Goa Legislative Assembly was informed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that there will be 175 psychological counselors instead of 96 in the state’s various schools.
In response to a query from Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Sawant informed the House that, for the 2024–2025 academic year, 66 counselors and 16 supervisors have been appointed in 198 high schools and 61 higher secondary schools.
For the 2024–2025 academic year, he said, 50 counselors have been appointed to colleges.
According to the chief minister, there is a proposal to enhance the number of counselors in High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools from 96 to 175 individuals.
According to Sawant, the counselors offer a secure environment where students can work through social anxiety, personal challenges, and academic pressure.
The chief minister stated, “They equip the students with emotional well-being by offering Confidential Support.”
According to him, the number of college counselors appointed in institutions of higher learning is determined by the caliber of students in each college.
