PANAJI: As the State government is set for the launch of the ‘Har Ghar Fiber’ scheme, connecting each household with an Internet network, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today introduced 10 WiFi hotspots across five constituencies to ensure seamless digital connectivity.
“Under the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, today we have introduced WIFI hotspots in Goa across five constituencies where the public can ensure seamless digital connectivity,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that such hotspots would be introduced across all constituencies in the coming months.
“The government has already taken the lead to launch the ‘Har Ghar Fiber’ scheme, under which each household will be connected to an Internet network,” he added.
IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said the WIFI hotspots services have today been introduced in Sankhali, Porvorim, Taleigao, Benaulim and Bicholim.
“I have already announced in the Assembly session that all the constituencies will be covered with WiFi. Accordingly, MLAs ha_ already submitted proposals identifying hotspots,” he said.
Khaunte said that all public places and government offices would be covered under the scheme.
“Internet has become like a fundamental right. Now, with everything shifting to the online working ecosystem, it is important that every household and public place have internet connectivity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched Citizen Service Centre in Pernem, which will cater to the public with difficulties in going with paperwork or any other scheme.
