PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that government will take control of admissions of around 21 private hospital from Monday.
“We repeatedly asked private COVID hospitals in Goa, likely around 21 to reserve 50% beds for COVID patients but they didn’t comply. Hence, Govt will take control of admissions at these hospitals from Monday,” said CM Sawant
He further said that state government will pay for the treatment at these hospitals.
“These hospitals will be run by the hospital staff. We’re only taking control of admissions,” he added
Sawant said that a government officer will be stationed at each of these private hospitals, who will ensure that 50% of the beds are reserved for COVID-19 patients.
“During the investigation we have at many occasions found that many private hospitals have started charging high rates for treatment to patients.” CM added
The Chief Minister further informed that
550 patients were admitted at South Goa District Hospital (SDGH) and around 350 patients has been shifted to GMC Super Speciality Block today with help of GVK EMRI 108.
“As per information around 160 patients admitted at GMC are critical, ” Sawant said
