PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that his government is constantly working to take GI tagging for special products in Goa.
Sawant also said that the state government is trying to obtain GI tags for chilies originally grown in the Arambol village and brinjals from Taleigao
“We are constantly working to take GI tagging for special products in Goa. We have already taken the GI tagging for Mankurad Mango, which is a famous and popular mango variety of Goa,”
He further said that the state government has also taken the GI tag for Goan Feni.
“GI tagging is important when it comes to farming. We are making efforts in that direction in Goa. The mankurado mango is a specialty of Goa,” Sawant said.
He said that we all say that the Alphonso mango is popular, but I can say for sure that the mankurado man.
Sawant also said that the state government was also trying to obtain GI tagging for other indigenous produce like chilies originally grown in the Arambol village and brinjals from Taleigao, near Panaji.
