Panaji: The government has advised all departments and institutions that accept Aadhaar for providing schemes, benefits, or services to verify its authenticity by using a secure QR Code scanner.
Officials said that scanning the secure QR Code printed on Aadhaar cards, PVC cards, or downloaded e-Aadhaar helps protect systems from forged or manipulated documents. The QR Code reveals original UIDAI data instantly, including the cardholder’s essential demographic details and photograph.
The feature, built into every Aadhaar, is tamper-proof and digitally signed by UIDAI. It works entirely offline through UIDAI’s official QR Code Scanner app, available for Android and iOS devices. Since the data is embedded within the QR Code and does not redirect to any website, it ensures secure, immediate verification.
Authorities have urged all agencies handling Aadhaar-based services to adopt QR Code verification as a safeguard against fraud.
