PANAJI: Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar said that the government will protect the interests of the traditional Ramponkars /Magkars by curbing illegal fishing.
“The government will protect the interest of the traditional Ramponkars /Magkars by curbing illegal fishing. The Department conducts regular patrolling to curtail illegal fishing activities in the State,” said Halarnkar.

“The Department has two vessels to patrol the territorial waters of Goa. The impounded vessels are berthed at the jetties where legal procedures are carried out by the authorized officer of the Department,” the Minister informed.
Meanwhile, the Fisheries Minister also said that the department has set up full-fledged Control Room 24×7 for receiving complaints.
