PANAJI: The Congress high command has summoned senior Goa leaders to Delhi for a high-level meeting to discuss the party’s roadmap for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat, Municipal, and Assembly elections.
Among those attending the meeting are South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, GPCC President Amit Patkar, and senior leader Girish Chodankar. The meeting is chaired by AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal and attended by Goa in-charge Manikrao Thakare and party spokesperson Anjali Nimbalkar.
Speaking to the media, GPCC President Amit Patkar clarified that his visit to Delhi was focused on discussions regarding upcoming elections and strengthening the party’s organisation in Goa. He dismissed rumours about any change in party leadership, urging the BJP to “focus on itself instead of spreading misinformation.”
Patkar also said that any decision on alliances will be taken at the appropriate time based on public feedback. “Parties interested in an alliance must first clarify their stand before talks can move forward with the Congress high command,” he stated.
