Panaji: Strengthening forest management in Goa is central to the state’s commitment to conservation and community safety, Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has said.
As part of this effort, GPS-enabled patrolling has been rolled out in key wildlife sanctuaries, including Netravali and Bhagwan Mahavir, enabling frontline teams to monitor forest areas more effectively.
Rane said waterholes are being desilted and maintained to support wildlife during dry spells, while invasive plant species are being removed from sensitive forest zones to protect native biodiversity.
The government is also developing eco-tourism trails to raise awareness and provide regulated access to Goa’s forest landscapes. “These initiatives reinforce our dedication to balancing ecological protection with people-centric progress,” the minister said.
