Panaji: The prize distribution ceremony of the 21st All Goa Season Ball Cricket Tournament was held at the Chapora Panchayat Ground, marking the conclusion of another successful edition organised by the Manorva Sports and Cultural Club. The event was attended by Goa Cricket Association President Mahesh Dessai and Secretary Tulsidas Shetye, underlining the association’s continued support for community level cricket initiatives.
Addressing players, organisers and spectators, GCA President Mahesh Dessai praised the efforts taken to develop cricket infrastructure in the region. He highlighted the importance of quality playing facilities at the local level, stating that well maintained grounds play a vital role in identifying and shaping future talent. Emphasising discipline and commitment, he urged young cricketers to remain focused on their training and conduct, both on and off the field.
Dessai also spoke about the Goa Cricket Association’s long term vision for grassroots development. He outlined ongoing efforts to establish rural cricket centres across the state, aimed at scouting talent from villages and providing structured pathways for promising players to progress to higher competitive levels. According to him, strengthening the base of the game is essential for sustaining Goa’s presence in domestic cricket.
GCA Secretary Tulsidas Shetye congratulated the organisers for the smooth conduct of the tournament and noted that such competitions continue to play a key role in promoting cricket across Goa. He added that regular local tournaments help maintain competitive standards while offering exposure to emerging players.
On the field, the final saw Mauli Sports Club, Nadora deliver a commanding performance against Prestige 11. Batting first, Prestige 11 were dismissed for 136 runs in 19.3 overs, struggling to build momentum against disciplined bowling. Mauli Sports Club responded with confidence, chasing down the target with ease by scoring 139 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 14.1 overs.
Yogesh Kauthankar led the bowling effort for Mauli with impressive figures of three wickets for 13 runs. In the chase, Sankalp Gawas remained unbeaten on 55, while Sachin Gawas anchored the innings with an undefeated 65, guiding their team to a convincing nine wicket victory and the tournament title.
