MOPA: Ground handling operations at Manohar International Airport, Goa, have continued without disruption following the revocation of security clearance to M/s Celebi Airport Services Pvt Ltd by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Government of India.
Celebi Airport Services, which had been providing ground handling services at the airport, ceased operations after the BCAS order.
In response, the airport authorities swiftly put in place alternative arrangements to maintain continuity of services.
“We have ensured a smooth transition in ground handling operations and are fully committed to providing seamless service to both airlines and passengers,” an airport spokesperson said.
Celebi Airport Services Pvt Ltd, part of the Turkish conglomerate Çelebi Aviation, is one of India’s leading ground handling companies, operating at multiple airports across the country. The revocation of their security clearance by BCAS—a statutory body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation—effectively bars the company from carrying out operations at Indian airports.
While the official reasons for the revocation have not been publicly disclosed, such actions by BCAS typically relate to issues concerning national security, operational compliance, or regulatory breaches.
The development has drawn industry attention, especially given Celebi’s wide presence in Indian aviation. However, authorities at Manohar International Airport have assured stakeholders that service standards will be upheld.
Further updates are awaited from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Celebi regarding the future course of action.
