COLLEM: A violent assault involving a group of eight persons has been reported in Collem, allegedly stemming from previous enmity.
According to a complaint filed by Monoj Velip, a resident of Shigao, the incident occurred on March 15, 2026, between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. The complainant, along with Raviraj Velip and Prajay Gaonkar, was travelling on an Activa scooter from Voldem to Shigao when they were intercepted by the accused.
Police stated that the accused—identified as Amir Gaonkar and Gopal Gaonkar, both residents of Voldem, Collem, along with six other unidentified individuals—formed an unlawful assembly and wrongfully restrained the victims.
The group allegedly assaulted the complainant using wooden sticks, an iron rod, a koita, and also punched and kicked him, causing bodily injuries. The accused further abused the victims and issued death threats.
The attack is believed to be linked to prior enmity between the parties.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rohan Naik of Collem Police Station.
