Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Thursday chaired the 206th Board Meeting of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) in Panaji, during which several key infrastructure projects aimed at urban rejuvenation, public convenience, and institutional development were approved.
The meeting was held in the presence of GSIDC Vice Chairman Shri Kedar Naik and senior government officials. Addressing the board, Dr. Sawant emphasised the government’s unwavering commitment to modernising civic infrastructure across the state. He stated that the newly approved projects are aligned with the vision of Viksit Goa 2037, which aims to deliver accessible, efficient, and future-ready public spaces and institutions.
Among the major projects approved were the upgradation of the municipal market in Sankhali and the demolition and reconstruction of the ageing St. Estevam Bridge in Tiswadi, which has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹21 crore. Another significant project includes the construction of a new boys’ hostel at Goa Medical College in Bambolim, with an estimated investment of ₹113 crore, aimed at enhancing accommodation facilities for students.
In South Goa, the redevelopment of old government buildings in Margao, including the iconic Old Collectorate Building and the Police Headquarters, was cleared to revive the city’s administrative core. Additionally, the development of the Old Bus Stand in Margao has been approved at a cost of ₹12 crore. The board also gave the green light for ancillary and maintenance works at Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhali, sanctioned at ₹3 crore.
Dr. Sawant underlined that GSIDC continues to play a critical role in executing projects with quality and speed, ensuring that public infrastructure meets the evolving needs of citizens. He assured that the government remains committed to completing all approved projects within stipulated timelines while maintaining high standards of construction and planning.
