Panaji: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has suspended two officials in the wake of the Arpora nightclub fire, citing lapses in inspection protocols.
The suspended staff members are scientific assistant Chaitanya Salgaonkar and junior environmental engineer Vijay Harichandra Kansekar, who reportedly failed to carry out a proper inspection at Birch by Romeo Lane.
Following a review of the magisterial report on the incident, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant convened a meeting with department heads and directed them to issue showcause notices to officials responsible for approving permissions for the nightclub.
Notices are expected to be sent to personnel from the food and drugs administration, panchayats, and fire and emergency services departments.
The magisterial inquiry included 60 recommendations aimed at strengthening safety protocols and preventing similar incidents in the future.
