New Delhi: In a thrilling encounter at the Rosary Church ground, Navelim, Guardian Angel SC Curchorem came from behind to defeat Carmona Sports Club 7-6 via a tense penalty shootout, securing their place in the quarterfinals of the 1st Late Inacio Colaco Memorial Football Tournament organized by Mandopa Sports Club.
The match ended 1-1 at full time. Carmona took an early lead with Stanford Fernandes scoring in the 9th minute, but Guardian Angel’s Cyril Dias leveled the score in the 27th minute.
The outcome was decided in the penalty shootout, where Guardian Angel’s sharpshooters proved superior. Goals from Cyril Dias, Regan Costa, Gleeson Fernandes, Godwin Fernandes, Mildroy Menezes, and Fedrich Fernandes sealed the win for Guardian Angel. Carmona’s scorers in the shootout included Darren Estibeiro, Edvil Afonso, Maven Gracias, Delzan Passanha, and Kayne Cardozo.
Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel SC was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from Claude Dias.
