ASSOLDA: Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem, booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup 2025, defeating Carmel Sports Club, Navelim, with an emphatic 4-1 victory in a thrilling encounter held at Moll Ground, Assolda. The tournament is being organised by St. Anthony Sports Club, Assolda.
The match came alive in the 34th minute when Fredrich Fernandes opened the scoring for Guardian Angel SC with a well-timed volley, giving his team a crucial 1-0 lead heading into halftime. A few minutes later, Velington Almeida nearly doubled the lead with a thunderous 30-yard strike that rattled the crossbar but went out of play.
In the second half, Guardian Angel SC took complete control of the match. Raston Costa extended the lead with two brilliant goals, netting in the 40th and 59th minutes, while Cyril Dias added another in the 48th minute to take the game beyond Carmel SC’s reach. Velington Almeida managed to pull one back for Carmel SC with a consolation goal.
For his outstanding performance and two-goal contribution, Raston Costa of Guardian Angel SC was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by Roncy Fernandes, President of Guardian Angel Sports Club.
With this dominant win, Guardian Angel SC advances to the quarterfinals in strong form, establishing themselves as one of the top contenders in the tournament.
