MARGAO: Guardian Angel Sports Club won the day, handing over a defeat to Varca Sports Club 3-0 and moving into the quarter-final of
The 49th Edition of Chandor Seamen Rolling Trophy Football tournament at Chandor ground.
The tournament got off to a start in the presence of a large holiday crowd.
The Guardian Angel Sports Club meant business from the start of the match and opened an account in the 6th minute through Adriano Gomes. The Varca boys tried to put up a valiant fight but were outplayed by determined Guardian Angel Boys in every department of the game. Jaison tapped the ball into the Varca goal off a long pass from a compatriot in the 16th minute. The Varca boys nearly scored but lacked the services of sharp shooters.
There was no looking back for Guardian Angel whose Benzo Clemente completed the trio. They led 3-0 at lemon time.
The 2nd half was lacklustre and the match was evenly matched, Varca trying their best to pull at least one back.
Lector Mascarenhas former international footballer and Ex-Secretary of GFA was the chief the Chief Guest and the Chandor Parish Fr. Jean Da Cruz Fernandes presided.
Mr Benzo Clemente was awarded the man of the Match.
