PANAJI: Governor of Goa, P.S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief MInister Dr Pramod Sawant have extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa, particularly the Muslim brethren, on the auspicious festive occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.
In his message, the Governor said “Id-ul-Zuha or Bakrid is also known as the feast of supreme sacrifice and is one of the most significant Islamic festivals. It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in order to submit to the will of God. All religions preach the universal values of love, peace and brotherhood. Let this festival foster the spirit of unity in diversity and strengthen the secular fabric of our country.
Further, he said, Goa is renowned for its rich tradition of unity and communal harmony. Let us, on this auspicious occasion reaffirm our commitments to uphold and further enrich this glorious tradition.
“This year, while rejoicing on this auspicious occasion, let us remember strictly following all the health protocols and guidelines and staying safe. May this Id-ul-Zuha bring renewed peace, prosperity and happiness to one and all,” the Governor concluded.
In his message, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said this spirit of sacrifice and dedication is commemorated by following traditional rituals and helping needy people, propagating the message of forgiveness and charity.
“The day also signifies the values of sacrifice, compassion, love and respect towards people in need and further nurture and strengthen the bond of brotherhood and humanity. Let us all on this great festive occasion, seek great strength and courage to overcome all the odds and damage caused by COVID pandemic and a renewed commitment towards building a healthy and prosperous society,” he said.
