PANAJI: Asserting that the Indian Military is maintaining the highest standards in the world, Governor of Goa P.S. Sreedharan Pillai commended the Armed forces’ valorous deeds and saluted their indomitable courage in serving the Nation.
Their acts of valour will always remain a source of inspiration to younger generations and ignite the spirit of patriotism and courage in our youth, he added.
Governor of Goa, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, was speaking after felicitating the 22 Gallantry Award winners of the Indian Armed forces residing in Goa at a function organized by the Goa Naval area to mark the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration today at Durbar Hall Raj Bhavan.
Speaking further, he appreciated the Indian Armed forces for enthusiastically participating in the ongoing Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration and the significant services rendered by the armed forces in times of national crises and natural calamities. Shri. Pillai said people from all walks of life and from every section of society have been participating in different programmes connected with Azadi ka Amit Mahotsav.
He outlined the nationwide various programmes and activities conducted with Jan Bhagidaari by the State and Union Territories connected to the five themes of freedom struggle, which highlights the country’s struggle for independence and challenges faced in the last 75 years, ideas at 75 Represents ideas that can help India achieve the path of progress after the 75th Independence Day, achievements at 75 which showcases the country’s achievements in the last 75 years, action at 75 which highlights Steps taken by the government on the 75th Independence Day and resolves at 75 resolutions to be taken by Indian citizens to carry forward developments in future.
Recalling the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War in East Pakistan, Governor said during this war of 13 days, serving the cause of humanity, the Indian Navy, Army and Air forces fought in unison and brought the Pakistan armed forces to their knees.
He pointed out that the armed forces have played a key role in combating the ongoing cross-border terrorism and insurgency.
Present on occasion were Flag Officer Goa Area and Admiral Shri. Vikram Menon, Station Commander(Army), Brig. A.S. Sawhney and other dignitaries. The event was also graced by more than 100 NCC Cadets who interacted with the award winners and reaffirmed their pledge to serve the mother nation.
