MARGAO: The Konkan Railway Police Station (KRPS), Margao, in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), successfully apprehended a habitual criminal and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹17 lakh, including gold ornaments and mobile phones. The accused, identified as Sahil (25), son of Munirahmed Kakkeri from Dandeli (Rural), Uttar Kannada, Karnataka, was caught near Margao Railway Station while attempting to dispose of the stolen valuables. The arrest came following a complaint by Smt. Shreeya Bangera, a resident of Dombivli, Maharashtra, who reported theft within the Konkan Railway jurisdiction. Acting swiftly, the KRPS team spotted Sahil moving suspiciously and managed to intercept him before he could board an outward-bound train. Police recovered at his instance one gold mangalsutra, one gold necklace, four gold bangles, a pair of gold earrings, one gold kadha, and one gold bracelet weighing 160.38 grams, valued at ₹15,97,000, along with three stolen mobile phones worth ₹1,25,000. The total recovered property is valued at around ₹17 lakh. The operation was led by PI Rahul Naik with assistance from PSI Viplav Vasta, PSI Chandrakant Velip, police constables and home guards of KRPS, and supported by RPF officers PI Vinod Mishra, PI Mohammad Asif, HC Shafik Shaikh, and HC Devendra Saini. Further investigation is being carried out by PI Rahul S. Naik under the supervision of DySP Konkan Railway Nilesh Rane and SP Konkan Railway Harish Madkaikar.
