Aldona: St Thomas Higher Secondary School in Aldona marked a proud moment with the launch of upgraded smart classrooms under the Happy School Project, thanks to the generous support of Dr Ashwin Fernandes, a distinguished alumnus and the Founder-President of the PACT Foundation. The initiative represents a full-circle journey for Dr Fernandes, who returned to his roots to support the very institution that shaped his formative years.
As part of the transformation, three classrooms were equipped with advanced smart boards, new benches, and underwent complete renovation and painting, creating a more vibrant and modern learning environment. The upgrades reflect PACT Foundation’s ongoing commitment to improving educational infrastructure in Goa and enhancing the quality of education for local students.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Father Jerard Sahayaraj, Manager of the School; Principal Angelica Fernandes; and Senior Teacher Amarnath Panjikar, along with staff, faculty, and students. A heartfelt musical performance composed by Physics Lab Assistant Ivan D’Cruz and performed by students added a touch of emotion and celebration to the occasion.
In his address, Dr Fernandes spoke passionately about his personal journey and connection to the school. “Returning to St Thomas isn’t just a visit—it’s a return to the roots that moulded me,” he said. Offering words of encouragement to students, he added, “Never forget where you come from—but never let it limit where you’re going. I was once sitting where you are. Dream, Inspire, Aspire.”
The upgrades at St Thomas are part of the PACT Foundation’s wider Happy School Project, launched in 2023. Since its inception, the initiative has supported 17 schools across Goa by enhancing digital infrastructure, revitalising classrooms, and improving sanitation facilities.
Father Jerard Sahayaraj expressed his gratitude, saying, “This contribution is more than just infrastructure—it brings with it a renewed spirit of hope and opportunity. Giving with love, as we’ve seen today, brings blessings that go beyond the visible.”
With deep roots in Aldona, the Happy School Project continues to spread its wings, aiming to empower more children with the tools they need to dream big and succeed. The PACT (People for Action, Change and Transformation) Foundation remains dedicated to uplifting communities through quality education and sustainable development.
