New Delhi: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed satisfaction with her team’s performance in the league stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, as their final group match against Bangladesh at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, was abandoned due to rain. With the result, India advanced to the semifinals, where they will face defending champions Australia on Thursday.
Reflecting on the league phase, Harmanpreet said she was pleased with how the team executed their plans and showed consistency across matches. “We played excellent cricket throughout the league stage, and everyone stepped up when it mattered,” she said after the game. “Whatever we planned, we have achieved, and hopefully Pratika will be fit for the semifinal.”
Opener Pratika Rawal remains under medical observation after injuring her right ankle while fielding in the rain-affected match. She twisted her foot on the damp turf while stationed at deep midwicket during the 21st over. The captain said the medical team is monitoring her progress and expressed optimism about her recovery ahead of the crucial knockout clash.
Rawal has been a key performer alongside Smriti Mandhana, forming a solid opening partnership that has given India strong starts throughout the tournament. Harmanpreet also praised Radha Yadav, who claimed three wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 119 for 9 before rain intervened. “Radha’s performance gives us another valuable option for the next match,” she added.
At the time of the interruption, India were well-placed at 57 for no loss in 8.4 overs, chasing a revised target of 126 in 27 overs.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana admitted her team would need time to regroup after finishing seventh with three points. She said there were positives to take despite narrow defeats against top sides like England, Sri Lanka, and South Africa, and praised her young players for their determination and hard work.
