PORVORIM:The Goa High Court today allowed the addition of 52 more persons and authorities as respondents in the suo-motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) related to the Birch Fire incident, following a submission by the state government. The list includes prominent individuals such as Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra among others.
The court also issued notices to all newly added respondents, with a returnable date set for 3 February. During the hearing, the High Court separated a writ petition filed by Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar from the Birch Fire PIL, underscoring the need to keep the suo-motu PIL “pure and clean.”
The High Court’s decision ensures that all parties potentially involved or responsible for aspects of the fire incident are formally included in the proceedings, while the separation of the writ petition ensures focused examination of each case.
The matter continues to attract attention as authorities and affected parties await further directions from the court.
