PANAJI: In a major setback the High Court of Bombay at Goa has admitted the petition filed by Prabhav Naik challenging the OBC reservation without granting interim relief. HC has kept hearing in June 2021.
The candidate of ward 22 Prabhav Naik lost his chance to contest as the ward is now reserved for for OBC.
He said that they are not happy with the reservation notified by the DMA. Prabhav’s father Bhai Naik requested the BJP High Command to investigate the ‘game in this matter.
There are only 150 OBC voters in this ward having 2,400-odd voters. Reserving this ward for OBC defies all logic,” local BJP functionary Pandurang alias Bhai Naik said.
In Margao, ruling BJP-backed Vibrant Margao panel was in a tizzy by the latest ward reservations as it virtually shunted some of the top city-BJP leaders out of the fray.
As many as eight candidates, around one third of the total candidates declared by the Vibrant Margao panel, have been hit by the reservations.
