The High Court has disposed of a petition filed by Joa n Mascarenhas E D’Souza, wife of Pastor Dominic D’Souza, who had sought to quash a 2022 FIR registered by the Crime Branch over alleged illegal religious conversion activities.
The court noted that the Crime Branch has already filed an A-Summary closure report in the case, citing lack of evidence to substantiate the allegations.
In view of this submission, the High Court closed the petition, bringing an end to the proceedings.
The FIR, registered two years ago, had accused Pastor D’Souza of involvement in unlawful conversion practices, a charge the family had consistently denied. With the closure report now on record, the case effectively stands terminated unless challenged by any party.
