PANAJI: Taking a serious view of delays in filing affidavits by government officers, High Court has fined Rs 5,000 to police department for delaying filling of affidavit in a petition filed by one police constable.
The court has asked the office of DGP to pay the cost to the petitioner till the time govt fixes responsibility as to who was responsible for the delay and whether to recover that cost from him.
The court has also warned of taking serious view if the affidavit or payment of cost is further delayed while adjourning the matter to July 26.
Police constable Prasad Shirodkar had moved court against non payment of TA/DA during transfer. Govt advocate sought adjournment on three occasions for filling affidavit.
