PANAJI: High Court of Bombay at Goa has granted one more week time, to the company, to transport remaining 1,868 MT ore from Kalay Railway Station to Andrem Jetty, Sanvordem.
The court has been informed by the company that the remaining ore will be transported and completed in one week on March 5.
The Goa Foundation filed a PIL writ petition, arguing that the Wildlife Act, 1972’s various provisions prohibited such activities in the Wildlife Sanctuary, and that this is why the court issued its order.
The Court had stated in its previous order dated February 5 that after the remaining ore is transported, no more handling of ore would be allowed at the Kalay Railway Station until the Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW), Goa (R-3) made a decision.
In order to allow for any necessary contestation of the decision, the court also barred the respondents from acting on any decision made by the Chief Wildlife Warden for a period of two weeks.
