PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today has issued notices to state government and Director of Social Welfare Department over non payment of monthly stipend through DSS, to persons with disability in Goa, for the last 5 months.
The High court has registered communication received through Disability Rights Association of Goa(DRAG) as a Suo Motu Public Interest Litigation.
Notices are returnable on Feb, 1. DRAG said that monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 has not been paid to nearly 12,000 beneficiary persons with disabilities for the past 5 months which the government was paying to the needy and poor persons with disability.
“The high court has issued notices to state government over non payment of DSS to 12000 persons with disability in Goa for the last 5 months based on a representation from Disability Rights Association of Goa. Hope the money is released soon,” said DRAG President Avelino Dsa
