PANAJI: The Goa government has told the High Court that the process of appointing a new Lokayukta is underway but is being delayed due to difficulties in finding an appropriate candidate.
The submission was made in response to a petition by politician Trajano D’Mello, who pointed out that the post has remained vacant since December 2024.
Taking note of the prolonged vacancy, the Court directed the State to file a status report on the progress of the appointment and adjourned the matter to October 13.
