PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane addressed a crucial meeting today with Health Officers, Medical Officers In-Charge, Medical Superintendents, and other officials from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to assess the state of health services in light of Goa’s current red alert status and ongoing heavy rainfall. Dr. Rupa Naik, Director of DHS, was also present during the review meeting.
The meeting focused on the functioning of health centres and district hospitals, with a detailed discussion on pending matters and strategies to enhance healthcare accessibility for all Goans. With the monsoon season in full swing, the review also highlighted the increased risk of vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue.
Minister Rane reassured that the state is fully prepared to manage the challenges posed by these conditions. “Sanitation drives have been ramped up, and healthcare services are on high alert to prevent and treat diseases associated with the rainfall,” he said.
The department is closely monitoring the situation, and residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. For any medical emergencies related to the rainfall, the public is advised to dial 108 for immediate assistance.
The meeting underscored the importance of community cooperation and prompt action to mitigate health risks during the current rainy season. “Let’s stay vigilant and safe together,” Minister Rane concluded.
