MAPUSA: Mapusa witnessed high drama on Monday evening after a group of men travelling in an Innova car without a number plate allegedly attempted to take a local man into their vehicle, sparking panic among bystanders.
Suspicious of the act, locals stopped the car and confronted the men, leading to heated arguments. Mapusa police arrived at the scene and brought all parties to the police station for verification.
On checking, the men produced valid identification and were confirmed to be personnel from the Telangana Police, who are in Goa in connection with an ongoing case.
Police said the absence of a number plate on the vehicle had initially created alarm, leading to confusion and suspicions of a possible abduction attempt before the matter was clarified.
