The Higher Secondary Teachers Association of Goa has slammed the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s for declaring that online classes are not compulsory stating that the students have lost seriousness after the statement.
In a press note issued here, Anant Pissurlekar, president of HISTAG, said that the Chief minister mentioned that online classes are not compulsory and it is not understood what exactly the CM is trying to convey.
“Some days back he himself had said that due to COVID19 there will be a delay in opening of schools. Accordingly Al the teachers were trained by the Department of Education and online classes had begun. But due to his latest statement the students who were paying attention to the online classes are distracted and have started neglecting the classes. As a result the attendance is declining everyday,” he said.
He further says that the he teachers are honestly doing their duty of imparting education from time to time even if there was one student present online.
“…but if these online classes were not beneficial to all then why we’re they asked to take these classes is a question,” he said. He continued further saying to add to that the teachers are made to attend schools as usual where there is absolutely no network.
“By these actions is the CM is taking the teaching community for a royal ride? Is the question asked by HISTAG,” he said.
