PANAJI: The PANAJI Police have booked a history-sheeter from Tonca-Caranzalem, who is known for his alleged stalking and harassment of female victims, for making offensive gestures at a woman on Sunday night near the Old Patto bridge while riding a scooter. After the victim girl described the experience on social media, the case was filed. After obtaining CCTV footage of the area, the police were able to identify the Tonca-Caranzalem resident whose appearance matched the individual in the video, according to North Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Akshat Kaushal. The defendant is presently free on bail in a 2024 case and has a criminal history of sexual harassment and POCSO offences.
Taking it to a social media platform, the victim girl wrote a long post in which she expressed disgust over the incident that while she and her friend were on a bike, a man approached them with an “Excuse me” statement, pretending to be polite. But as they looked closer, they saw him riding with one hand, while using the other for the obscene gesture.
After knowing of this incident from social media, the police registered the case and proceeded with the investigation.
