PORVORIM: Porvorim Police, in a joint operation with Pernem Police, have arrested notorious history-sheeter Tarzan Parsekar and three of his associates, who had been absconding for over a year after their bail was denied in a money extortion case.
The accused — Tarzan Parsekar and Sanish Ghatwal, both residents of Saligao, along with Sagar Patil and Prashant Dasaraju from Nagoa — were wanted in connection with a case registered under Sections 308(5), 351, and 352 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Acting on a tip-off, police teams raided a hideout in Nanerwado, Pernem, where the accused were believed to be sheltering. The operation was led by Pernem PI Sachin Lokre, and included PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Prathmesh Parsekar, PSI Sahil Naik, and constables Krishna Velip, Mahadev Kerkar, Sagar Khorjuvekar, Hemant Sawant, Sachin Gawas, and Chaitan Sawant.
Police said that as the team approached the location, the accused tried to flee in different directions. However, they were swiftly overpowered and arrested with minimal force. The accused allegedly resisted arrest, resulting in minor scuffles.
The arrests follow a complaint filed by Avinash Shinde of Reis Magos, who accused the group of extorting money from him. Police sources said the four accused are involved in several serious offences registered across various police stations in Goa.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to Porvorim Police and will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) for remand on Monday.
