FATORDA: A hit-and-run incident occurred in Colva early this morning when the rider of an unknown two-wheeler collided with a Jupiter scooter at the Colva Circle.
The rider of the scooter, Mabub Nasarjung, sustained injuries to his head and right shoulder after the crash.
According to police reports, the accident took place at approximately 5:30 AM, when the unidentified rider of the two-wheeler was traveling in the wrong direction from Ravindra Bhavan towards Colva.
Witnesses say the rider was driving recklessly, showing little regard for road safety. As the two vehicles approached Colva Circle, the two-wheeler crashed into the front of the scooter.
The impact left Nasarjung, a resident of Ambelim, Velim, with significant injuries. Despite the severity of the crash, the rider of the two-wheeler fled the scene without providing any medical assistance or notifying the police.
The Fatorda Police Station (PS) has registered a complaint under Section 279 (rash driving) and Section 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety) of the Indian Penal Code.
The investigation is being carried out by HC-4295, Sadanand Gurav of Fatorda PS. Authorities are actively working to trace the hit-and-run rider, whose identity remains unknown.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident or the fleeing rider to come forward. The authorities are also reviewing nearby CCTV footage for any leads.
