Bicholim: Police have registered a hit-and-run case after two persons were injured when a car collided with their scooter near Vatadev, Sarvan, on Saturday night.
According to Bicholim Police, the case (Cr No. 142/2025) was registered under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Sections 134(a) and (b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, based on a state complaint lodged by Head Constable Umesh Naik of Bicholim Police Station.
The incident occurred at around 11:43 pm on October 18 near the MRF Tyre Shop at Vatadev, Sarvan, when an unknown driver of a car bearing partial registration number MH-20 allegedly drove rashly and negligently while proceeding from Sankhali towards Bicholim. The car reportedly rammed into an Ntorq scooter (GA-04-R-3600) heading in the opposite direction.
As a result, pillion rider Satish Jagdar (29) sustained grievous injuries to his left leg, while rider Sanmesh Salunke (21) suffered simple injuries. The accused driver allegedly fled the scene without assisting the injured or informing the police.
Police have inspected the accident site and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace the vehicle and identify the driver. Further investigation is in progress.
