BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a scooter rider seriously injured at Mayem in Bicholim.
According to police, the incident occurred on January 11, 2025, at around 12.30 pm near Adinath Math close to Fun Club, Mayem. A red WagonR car bearing registration number GA-04-C-1870, travelling from Poira towards Bicholim, was allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner and collided head-on with an Activa scooter bearing registration number GA-04-N-0797 coming from the opposite direction towards Chimulwada, Mayem.
The impact caused grievous injuries to the scooter rider, Kishor Sakhalkar, a resident of Chimulwada, Mayem. The driver of the car allegedly fled the scene without providing medical assistance to the injured man or informing the police.
Based on the investigation into Bicholim Police Station Motor Vehicle Accident No. 06/2026 dated January 13, 2026, a state complaint was lodged by Ganesh Parwar (HC-5723). During the course of the investigation, police identified the accused as Vishnu, son of Vithal Shetkar, aged 48, presently residing at S-G-2, Amay Niwas near Chandrakant Garage, Khorlim, Mapusa, and a native of Ravana New Colony, Parye, Sattari.
He was arrested on January 14, 2026, at 1.16 am and placed in police custody. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Amarnath Palni of Bicholim Police Station.
