Bicholim: In a case of rash and negligent driving, a 68-year-old man sustained serious head injuries after being hit by a speeding car near ITI, Valshi in Bicholim.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm.
According to the state complaint lodged by Head Constable Rajesh Saraf of Bicholim Police Station, the accused, Yash Ghatwal (24), a resident of Poira-Maem, allegedly drove his Swift car (GA-04-C-8823) in a reckless manner, endangering human life and public safety.
While heading from Bicholim towards Assnora, the car rammed into a Fascino scooter (GA-04-R-7665) traveling in the same direction. The scooter rider, identified as Suresh Naik, a resident of Lamgao, was thrown off the vehicle and sustained grievous head injuries due to the impact.
Shockingly, the accused driver fled the scene after the collision, leaving the injured senior citizen without assistance.
The case has been registered under Motor Vehicle Accident No. 60/2025, and an investigation is underway to trace the absconding driver and determine further legal action.
