DHARBANDORA: A serious hit-and-run accident was reported on NH 748 near Village Panchayat Dharbandora, where an unidentified truck driver allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner, endangering lives.
According to a complaint filed by HC Vinod Naik of Ponda Police Station, the incident occurred on April 11, 2026, around 6:15 am when the truck, travelling from Mollem towards Usgao, rammed into a Honda Aviator scooter from behind.
Due to the impact, both the rider and pillion fell onto the road. The truck then ran over the legs of the pillion rider, identified as Sinetra Gaonkar from Shivdem, Dharbandora, causing severe crush injuries. The rider, Hema Gaonkar, also sustained bodily injuries in the accident.
The truck driver fled the scene without providing medical assistance or informing the police. Ponda Police have registered the case, and further investigation is underway.
