HONDA (SATTARI): The multi-crore Honda bus stand in Sattaari taluka, known as the white elephant of the Goa government, has now become a hangout for drunkards.
Citizens have expressed grave concern over many overnight liquor parties in the area over the past few days and demanded an immediate end to the menace.
Locals allege that the police deliberately ignore the parties even as the police station is just a few meters away. The police can just hop, skip and jump and catch the culprits.
Citizens allege that despite several complaints, police have turned a blind eye to the nuisance.
Though the Kandaba Transport Corporation has been given possession of the bus stand, it has not been put to its optimum use.
The cost of empty bottles littered all over…
A visit to the Kadamba bus stand reveals many empty bottles in the area, which is posing a danger to the locals, especially women.
Since the Kadamba bus stand is away from teh central market, there are no takers for the stalls.
Taking advantage of the situation, this place has become a happy hunting ground for drunkards.
Locals now say that some police action is possible these days as they have appealed to several police officers and politicians to take action.
Even though Honda Panchayat is in charge …..
Another shocking point is the Honda panchayat is temporarily functioning from the same KTC stand building as the new building is under construction.
However, they, too, do not seem to see the nuisance of empty bottles spread everywhere.
Sources in panchayat said that they do not have enough workers to clean every day and carry out cleaning every alternate day.
